Ambala, December 2
The District Pre-Natal Diagnostics Technique (PNDT) Advisory Committee has suspended the registration of JK Ultrasound, Ambala Cantonment, for three weeks for violating the rules of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act.
Dr Vinod Gupta, Chief Medical Officer, said, “A team of doctors had conducted a raid and sealed three ultrasound machines at JK Ultrasound for violating the rules of the PCPNDT Act on November 21.The raid was conducted on getting information about illegal gender determination test being done at the centre, but during investigation it was not established that the doctor performed a gender determination test and fees for a normal ultrasound had been charged”.
“At the same time, the doctor was found guilty of not following the rules of the PCPNDT Act. A decoy customer was sent to the centre and she did not carry any referral slip from a gynaecologist. The doctor at the centre got a referral slip made from a gynaecologist without even sending the patient,” he added.
According to the rules, the patient must have a referral slip from a qualified gynaecologist. The ultrasound center was sealed on November 21 and the period of suspension of registration would also be accepted from November 21.
