Ambala, December 29

The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed Vodafone Digilink Limited and Vodafone store to pay Rs15,000 as compensation to a complainant whose number was suspended without prior notice.

In its order, the forum stated, “It is not disputed that Vodafone had suspended the number of the complainant on May 26, 2015, on the ground that a bill for Rs 236 was outstanding of Tata Docomo and the same was not paid by the complainant. Perusal of the case file reveals that no prior notice has ever been issued to the complainant before suspending the mobile number, which was mandatory.”

The complainant had ported his postpaid number from Tata Docomo to Vodafone. — TNS
