Gadkari blames Cong for farmers’ plight
Kurukshetra: Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday claimed that the wrong policies of the Congress were behind the poor condition of farmers and the rural sector. He was addressing a public meeting in support of Pawan Saini, BJP candidate from Ladwa. “We have surplus wheat, rice and sugar. This is the prime reason for farmers not getting fair prices. Wrong policies, corrupt administration and visionless leadership are the reasons for rural distress,” Gadkari said. “Farmers are unlikely to get relief until we change the crop pattern. The BJP government has decided that farmers will not only produce rice and wheat, but alternatives to petrol and diesel as well,” he said. “Due to lack of economic viability, even sugar mills are getting closed.” TNS
