Additional District and Sessions Judge HS Dhiya has sentenced a woman to 30-year imprisonment for brutally killing her husband by cutting him into several pieces at Aasanda village in the district around one-and-a-half year ago. However, the court acquitted four other accused in the case.
The Bahadurgarh police had registered a case against Pooja for murdering her husband Baljeet on a complaint by her brother-in-law Kuljeet on April 26, 2016. Kuljeet had alleged in the complaint that Pooja has an extra-marital affair with another man and wanted to get rid of her husband.
Kuljeet said he and his two sisters went to Baljeet’s house but did not find him there. Pooja could not give a satisfactory reply when asked about Baljeet. Meanwhile, his sisters felt foul smell emanating from another room and found that it was coming from a suitcase. They opened the suitcase and found Baljeet’s headless body in it.
Later, the police investigation found that Pooja had cut Baljeet into several pieces and hidden them at different places in the house with an intention to destroy evidence. She buried Baljeet’s head in the floor of the house. The court on Tuesday held Pooja guilty of brutally murdering Baljeet and sentenced her to 30 years in jail.
