Wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Sangita Phogat engaged

Star wrestler Bajrang Punia got engaged to grappler Sangita Phogat in a simple ceremony at his house here on Sunday.

Sangita is the youngest of the Phogat sisters, on whom Bollywood film “Dangal” starring Aamir Khan was made.

Sangita’s father and Dronacharya awardee Mahavir Singh Phogat and other members of the family performed the ceremony.

Later, he told the media that the wedding would be solemnised after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in a simple ceremony without any dowry. “I am happy that my youngest daughter will also marry a wrestler,” he said.

Mahavir Singh’s other daughter Geeta Phogat has married wrestler Pawan Saroha.

Bajrang also confirmed that he would marry after the Tokyo Olympics. “First, I will fulfil my father’s dream of winning a medal in the Olympics and then get married,” he said.
