To encourage girls to pursue higher education, the JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, has decided to offer one supernumerary seat each in BTech, MTech, MBA and MCA under the single girl child quota from 2019-20.
Vice Chancellor Dinesh Kumar said: “The government has taken a series of steps under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao programme. In line with this, the university has decided to create one supernumerary seat for single girl child.”
The admission would either be on the basis of an entrance test conducted by the YMCA or marks obtained in qualifying exam.
If the supernumerary seat remains vacant in case no candidate fulfils the criteria, it will not be offered to candidates from other categories. Only single girl child of Haryana is eligible.
Meanwhile, the YMCA has started four courses. These are B Tech in electronics and computers with an intake of 60 seats, MTech in power electronics and devices (18 seats), BA journalism and mass communication (40 seats), and MA English (35 seats).
