169 students awarded degrees at IIT-Mandi

The IIT-Mandi organised its fifth convocation at Kamand yesterday and awarded the degrees to 169 students.
The chief guest was Banmali Agrawala, president, Infrastructure and Defence and Aerospace business of Tata Sons. He was accompanied by Subodh Bhargava, chairperson of the Board of Governors of IIT-Mandiand former Chairman of Tata Communications, and Timothy A. Gonsalves, Director, IIT Mandi.
This year IIT-Mandi conferred degrees on 24 PhD, 7 MS (Research), 18 MSc, 4 MTech and 116 BTech students. The efforts and achievements of exceptional students were recognized and rewarded.
Samriddhi Jain was awarded the President of India Gold Medal for outstanding academic performance among the BTech graduation batch. She was also awarded the Institute Silver Medal for outstanding academic performance among the students graduating in BTech, Computer Science and Engineering.
Vivek Sharma was awarded the Director’s Gold Medal for all around excellence in academics and extra-curricular activities. Prince Garg received the Institute Silver Medal for top performance among the students graduating in B.Tech., Mechanical Engineering.
Shivangi Kataria received the Institute Silver Medal for outstanding academic performance from among the students graduating in B.Tech. Electrical Engineering. She was also awarded the Rani Gonsalves Memorial Medal for best performance among girl students of the B.Tech. batch. Siddharth Gangal was awarded the Balasundaram Endowment Prize for German. Mohammad Ashraf was conferred the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for MSc chemistry.
The Director of IIT-Mandi gave the welcome speech and threw light on the achievements of this institute.
