To mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, Dagshai Public School held various events. There was an evening ‘divan’ in the school gurdwara, where gurbani singing, poetry recitation, narrative projection and oratory marked the celebrations. The principal addressed the staff and students and highlighted the importance of the day. The students lit candles and earthen lamps, decorating the gurdwara with flowers and lights. Gatka enthusiasts performed daring feats on both days. Inmates of Shanti Niketan, an orphanage run by Sewa Bharti, remained present during the final day of the programme.
Awareness campaign by students
An awareness campaign on cleanliness was organised at Indus Global School. It was presided over by Mandi Deputy Commissioner Rugved Milind Thakur. The purpose was to make students aware of the cleanliness drive launched by the state government and to bring Mandi on the list of top 100 cities in India. The DC administered oath of cleanliness to students and faculty of Indus Global School to keep the city and surroundings clean. Principal Madan Lal proposed the vote of thanks.
Programme at Auckland school
Nativity programme was organised at the Auckland House School for Boys. Presbyter in-charge of Christ Church, Shimla, graced the occasion. The programme commenced with the opening prayer, followed by readings from Holy Bible. The birth of Lord Jesus Christ was beautifully depicted by the students through a play. The choir enthralled the audience with melodious carols. The programme concluded with the distribution of sweets. Principal, Auckland House School for Boys, Michael A John and principal, Auckland House School, Sunita John were also present.
Buddy’s Day at Sanjauli college
As a part of the special drive on drug abuse and alcoholism from November 15 to December 15, Buddy’s Day was celebrated at the Centre of Excellence, Government College, Sanjauli. Principal Dr Chander Bhan Mehta and the teaching and non-teaching staff were present. Committee convener Dr Ravinder Chauhan spoke on friendship and bonding. A plethora of performances ranging from poem recitations, dance performances, sharing of viewpoints on friendship and amusing games entertained one and all. Students were told to download Himachal Drug Control app.
State-level Science congress
Shivam Panjolia and Saksham Salaria of MCM DAV Public School, Baghni (Nurpur), made the school proud by winning top positions in the 27th state-level children science congress 2019 at Government Senior Secondary School (Girls), Bilaspur. Principal MR Rana congratulated the students and teachers.
