Dharamsala, October 4
Seven young girls are participating in this year’s Miss Himalaya Pageant being held in Dharamsala on October 6. This was stated by organiser of the event, Lobsang Wangyal, on Thursday.
He said Anisha Palnail, Anshika Thakur, Ashima Sharma, Palak Sharma, Ritika Sharma, Shalika Rana, and Yashima Patel were the participants. The winner will be decided after four rounds — “Talk”, “Talent”, “Traditional Costume” and “Interview” — which will be judged by a three-member jury on the finale at the grounds of Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts in McLeodganj on October 6.
The winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, first runner-up 50,000 and the second runner-up 25,000.
Wangyal said mere words would not empower women. They should be provided opportunities and platforms to have experiences and excel in their lives.
“We tried to get sponsorship for this event, but failed. The government is yet to respond,” he said.
