Mandi, April 26
Actor Ayush Sharma, younger brother of Congress candidate from Mandi Ashray Sharma, has hit the campaign trail in the parliamentary constituency to seek votes in his favour. Ayush is also the brother-in-law of Bollywood star Salman Khan.
Both Ashray and Ayush addressed a public meeting at Bajaura in Kullu district today. Ayush, who made his film debut in “Loveyatri”, appealed to the public to support his elder brother Ashray. He described him as an honest and hardworking person who wants to serve the people of the area.
“Ashray and I spent our childhood playing in the streets of Mandi town. Now he wants to serve the people of the constituency. Ashray is very energetic and dedicated towards public service,” said Ayush.
Yesterday also during the filing of nomination papers by Ashray in Mandi, Ayush attended the Congress rally and addressed a public meeting.
Tearing into BJP candidate Ram Swaroop Sharma, Ashray alleged that he was ineffective as an MP. He said the BJP MP had failed to raise the issues concerning the residents of Mandi and Kullu districts.
He said the most ambitious project of Kullu district — Jalori Jot tunnel — had been hanging fire despite the fact that it would provide all-weather connectivity to residents of the Ani and Nirmand areas.
“Similarly, the Bhubhu Jot tunnel project via the Lag valley has not been approved by the Centre. The proposed tunnel would cut the distance between Kullu and Dharamsala by 57 km.
Salt mines in Mandi are non-functional. There are several such projects that have been hanging fire due to lackadaisical approach of the MP,” alleged Ashray.
Selfie moment
