Anjani Mahadev has become a new tourist hotspot in the Solang valley in Kullu district after the Tourism Department marked a 2-km track for horse riding in the region.

Anjani Mahadev, where a huge shivlingam of snow is formed in natural way every year during winter, draws thousands of devotees.

Due to vertical ascend, a majority of tourists did not visit the spot but after the Tourism Department’s initiative, there is a huge tourist influx these days.

In Solang, the snow has disappeared but at Anjani Mahadev, tourists are getting a glimpse of snow even in May and they were enjoying panoramic view of nature.

Talking to The Tribune here, tourists Sanjay Kumar and his friends, hailing from Uttar Pradesh said, “It is a mind-blowing experience to visit the region and we enjoyed cool breeze, besides abundance of nature.”

Pony owners are also happy. Khoob Ram, secretary of pony owners union at Solang, said, “An amount of Rs 550 has been fixed to provide services to tourists. It will also provide livelihood to nearly 150 families.”

This manifestation of Lord Shiva is attributed to the penance of Anjani, mother of Hanuman, who was conceived here.

The location was discovered by Baba Prakash Puriji Maharaj after a divine vision.
