Art restoration project at Kandaghat

A 3-day art restoration project was undertaken by the Speaking Archaeologically Group at Government Degree College, Kandaghat, from July 5 to July 7.

To facilitate the fair competition and selection of the best artists, a workshop-cum-live art session was held by on June 13 at the Government Museum and Art Gallery, Chandigarh. A team of seven artists were selected from the the Tricity, said Shriyan Gautam, who was the supervising archaeologist of the project.

The team comprised students Ashita Singla, Aprampar Singh, Alka Dalal, Ishita Sarkar, Rajita Kaushal, Sukhwinderjeet Kumar and

Tarannum Sodhi.

The three best paintings were adjudged by Dr Chaman Sharma from the Department of Fine Arts, HP University.

Ishita Sarkar was declared first for Akbar's Mausoleum, Sukhwinderjeet's Heer and Ranjha, drawn in the Guler Jammu Style was declared second and Aprampar's Portrait Hari Singh Nalwa won the third prize.
