A team of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau caught assistant RTO Denu Ram red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 4,500 from a trader at Kala Amb inter-state barrier this afternoon.

The action was taken after a trader from Naraingarh in Haryana complained that he was being forced to shell out Rs 1,500 for the last three months for allowing his vehicles to pass through Kala Amb. The trader was engaged in transporting timber from Kala Amb to Naraingarh, said DSP. The DSP said the team nabbed the official this afternoon while accepting the bribe and further investigations were underway. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered.
