Nearly 17 days after Assistant Drug Controller (ADC) Nishant Sareen was booked under sections 11 and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, he was yet to be arrested by the sleuths of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau.
Though Sareen’s bail plea was rejected by the Special Court here the bureau officials got no success in arresting him. He was booked by the bureau on August 21 and six places, including his office and his properties, were raided on August 23. Incriminating papers pertaining to his properties and unaccounted for cash among other valuables were seized by the officials in the raids.
He was alleged to have drawn undue favours from pharmaceutical manufacturers in Baddi and Kala Amb for availing air tickets and stay in five star hotels at various places like Hyderabad, Mumbai, Vishakhaptanam, Delhi, etc., Despite a lapse of more than two weeks the bureau was yet to make adequate efforts to arrest him and this has put a question mark over their working.
Additional Director General of Police, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Anurag Garg, said efforts were afoot to arrest the ADC Nishant Sareen and added that they had a strong documentary evidence against him.
Meanwhile, the Director Food Safety and Regulation, suspended him in view of this case slapped against him as well as his absence from the office since for more than two weeks now. Director Food Safety and Regulation, Naresh Lath, while confirming the news said ADC Nishant Sareen has been suspended following registration of a corruption case against him as well as his repeated absence from his official duties.
The officer was deputed at Mandi from the Baddi office in the last week of July . He had applied for leave from August 28 to August 31 through an application send through registered post but it had been rejected and no further communication was received from him informed the officials.
