Bal Mela will be held as usual: Bali
Kangra, July 23
Former Transport Minister GS Bali on Monday said the two-day Bal Mela would be held as usual on July 26 and 27 at Nagrota bagwan, despite the disinformation campaign launched by certain vested interests. The programme is held to serve the needy, ailing and poor people of the area.
Bali was addressing a press conference at his residence here. He said, “I hope everything will go on as usual and better sense will prevail over those who have launched the disinformation campaign.” Bali said at least four to six doctors, including Dr YU Chawla, former Director, PGI, Chandigarh, and Dr KLN Rao of the PGI will attend the camp. Bali said July 26 would be Hepatitis Day so Dr YU Chawla, hepatologist, will deliver a lecture regarding preventive measures for hepatitis.
He said the doctors from all over the country would treat people free of cost, besides medical tests would also be conducted. Free hearing aids and spectacles will be distributed. He said the Bal Mela, which coincided with his birthday, was being organised for the past two decades. — OC
