Bid to molest minor in Shimla

Shimla, April 18
While the rape of minors in Unnao and Kathua have rocked the country, an attempt to molest an 11-year-old girl was thwarted in Shimla.
The 35-year-old accused, the neighbour of the minor girl, allegedly took the girl, a student of Class V, to his room and tried to molest her.
The accused also tried to sexually assault her but she raised the alarm. Hearing her cries, people reached his room. He tried to run away but was overpowered and handed over to the police.
The accused, identified as Rashi, is a Nepali and married.
Shimla Superintendent of Police Ompati Jamwal said a case under Sections 342,376,506 and 511 of the IPC and relevant sections of the POCSO Act had been registered against the accused and investigations were in progress.
