Book talk at St Bede’s
A book talk was organised in the library of St Bede’s College. The chief guest was former teacher Mita Biswas. Students reviewed books like “A Thousand Splendid Suns”, “Funny Boy”, “The Monk who sold his Ferrari”, “The Color Purple”, “The Alchemist” and “Ravana”. The first position was secured by Simran Kathait, second by Kriti Verma and third by Pratishtha Thakur. All participants were given awards.
Clamour for Central status for HPU
The Himachal Pradesh University Teachers Association (HPUTA) will take up the issue of getting the Central status for HP University with Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank. HPUTA president Prof R L Zinta stated this. He added that the executive meeting of the association was held on Wednesday and it was decided that the association would also demand Rs 30 crore from the Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs for establishing ICT facilities in the university, besides taking up the issue of 7th Pay Commission and special budget provision to the multi-storey parking on the campus.
Students learn about CM Helpline
Students of Government Senior Secondary School, Ghanahatti, were apprised of the working of Information Technology Department and Chief Minister Helpline. Joint Director (IT) Anil Samwel told the students about programmes like e-district, digi locker and e-office launched by the government. Teachers also joined the students.
Meritorious students felicitated
As many as 84 meritorious students were given cash prizes of over Rs 1,11,000 by the Sanjeevani Parmarth Trust. These awards were given to students of private and government schools. The first prize was bagged by Abhishek Sharma of Him Academy Public School, while the second prize was shared by Vaibhav of Pradesh Public School and Bani and Parinika of Government Senior School Jahu. Komal Dhiman of Gurukul Public School and Simran of Magnet Public School got the third prize.
Highland School wins talent hunt
Highland Public School, Sudher, won ‘Explorica-2019’, organised at Dronacharya PG College of Education, Rait. Six competitions — quiz, declamation, painting, best out of waste, chess and science —were held. The students won the first prize in quiz and best out of waste and second prize in science project. They won the overall trophy.
