A cafeteria and three shops of Tibetan handicrafts were destroyed in a fire which broke out near GPO, Gandhi Chowk, in Dalhousie last night, an official report said here today. A few adjoining shops were also damaged partially.
On receiving the information, the local administration requisitioned fire tenders of the Indian Air Force, fire brigade, the police and IPH officials, which were pressed into fire-fighting operation.
Dalhousie tehsildar Rajesh Jaryal said an estimated loss of Rs 1 crore had been assessed by revenue officials.
One person Akshay, who was seriously injured during the rescue operation, was referred to the Tanda medical college. An Immediate relief of Rs 5,000 had been given to the injured.
