The CBI today filed its fifth status report in the Himachal Pradesh High Court in the rape-murder case of a 16-year-old school girl in Kotkhai. While submitting the report, the CBI counsel sought six more months for completing the probe into the infamous case that had shook the hill state and earned much criticism for the state government as well as the police department.

After perusing the report, a Division Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Sandeep Sharma expressed satisfaction over the CBI investigation and listed the matter for further hearing on December 20. Also, the CBI assured the court of filing a challan shortly before the trial court in connection with the custodial death of an accused in the case, Suraj. Following the assurance, the court listed this particular matter for November 30.
