UNA, APRIL 9
The local management committee of DAV Centenary Public School on Monday held a meeting to recommend the suspension of three employees accused in the CBSE paper leak case being investigated by the crime branch of the Delhi Police.
Committee vice-president Balwinder Singh said the decision had been forwarded to the Central Management Committee of the DAV institutions in Delhi.
There were reports that a team of investigating officers, along with the three accused, commerce teacher Rakesh Sharma, office clerk Amit Sharma and peon Ashok Kumar, was scheduled to reach Una to reconstruct the happenings of March 23 when an envelope containing Class XII economics papers was taken out of the strong room of the Union Bank of India branch in Una. The paper was smuggled out three days before the examination date on March 26.
Since the DAV school management was at its toes, waiting for the investigating team to arrive, the committee meeting, scheduled to be held in the morning, was postponed till 3 pm. The wait proved to be in vain.
It is also learnt that when the three accused were picked up by the Delhi Police from their homes on April 7, another team had taken into possession the bank’s CCTV footage.
The teachers, who have shouldered examination duties as Centre Superintendents, said question papers could be taken out of the bank locker only 45 minutes before the start of the examination and the codes on the envelope had to be matched with the day’s code sheet provided by the CBSE. It was the duty of the Superintendent and an authorised official of the bank to check the codes on the envelopes being taken out of the strong room.
