A team of experts from the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme visited various villages, including Sanwara, Sukhi Johri, Siyardi and Deothi, where the outbreak of Japanese encephalitis (JE) virus has been reported. The team assessed the gaps in identifying the disease.
The team said all cases of fever being reported in these villages might not be related to the JE virus as these showed cross-reactivity to scrub typhus.
However, the team obtained an in-depth data pertaining to the past history of fever in the area and factors that could have led to the outbreak of the JE virus.
Epidemic Intelligence Service officers from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare also visited the Regional Hospital on Wednesday and assessed the records pertaining to the prevalence of scrub typhus in the area in the past.
