Challenges of ‘Unnat Bharat Abhiyan’ discussed at HPU

Students of MBA-Rural Development, Himachal Pradesh University, participated in a national seminar on “Unnat Bharat Abhiyan: Prospects and Challenges” organised by the Department of Rural Development, National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IITD) and All-India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) in Chandigarh.

Prof Upender Nath Roy, coordinator of the seminar, presented the theme and Prof VK Vijay shared the achivements of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) through online session. Dr DK Saini represented the AICTE.

In this seminar, around 150 academicians, organic farmers, environmental professionals and activists, agriculture scientists, UBA participating institute coordinators, research scholars, students and group of NGOs participated and presented around 45 research papers on different themes.

Students of MBA-Rural Development, including Akshita Pathania, Tejaswani Sharma, Megha Bhardwaj, Sonia Sahni, Aprana Mandotra, Ritesh Sain, Ankush Rana, Swati Gautam, Mansi Thakur, Manisha Sharma, Aman Deep, Rajni Khoond, Vinay Kumar, Vaibhav Nayyar, Gaurav Sharma, Gauri Shree, Abhishek Minhas, participated in the seminar.

The students presented their research papers with their mentor such as ‘Empowerment of Rural Women through NRLM’ by Aparna, Jan Manch Programme for Grievance Redressal Mechanism: A study of Himachal Pradesh by Megha Bhardwaj, ‘Role of Farmer Producers Organisation’’ in improving the socio-economic condition of farmers by Akshita, ‘’Socio-economic and psychological correlates of Mushroom Utilisation Pattern: A Case Study of Shimla District by Sonia Sahni and Vinay Kumar presented his paper on ‘Factors Influencing Consumers’ Attitude towards online shopping: a case study of Shimla district.’

In this national two technical sessions were chaired by the faculty of The Technical session-II was chaired by Dr Randhir Singh Ranta and a plenary session on the ‘approach of sustainable rural development’ was chaired by Dr Baldev Singh Negi.
