The drain coming from Ujjain on the outskirts of the town has been blocked due to which the water has entered the bus stand leaving it flooded for the past six days.

Pawan Pathania, who is running a medical shop at the exit point of the bus stand, said the drain was constructed recently. He said he had approached the Executive Engineer of the PWD at Kangra but he did not entertain his request saying that it was for the management of the bus stand to look into the problem as it was run under the build operate and transfer (BOT) scheme.

He further said that he also approached the bus stand management, but all in vain. The water continued to enter the bus stand for the past six days leaving the bus stand flooded and passengers inconvenienced. More than 500 buses, both HRTC and private buses, enter the bus stand daily. The shopping area adjacent to the general bus stand has also been flooded due to the chocked drain.

Sanjeev Mahajan, Executive Engineer, PWD, Kangra, said the drain was constructed by the bus stand management and the PWD had no role to play in it. However, he said he had taken up the matter with the local SDM. Sashi Pal Negi, SDM, Kangra, said the matter had come to his notice and assured that the problem would be sorted out by Monday.
