“In the era of cut-throat competition, it is a matter of concern that the education system is lagging in values and culture said Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while inaugurating the ‘Chet Ram Gyan Bhawan’ at Saraswati Vidya Mandir, here on Thursday.
He said Vidya Bharti had established over 25,000 educational institutions across the country which were providing quality education to over 33 lakh students. “The present education system in India was a product of Lord Macaulay as the Britishers wanted to make the Indian education system in such a way that it produced only educated people, without any respect for culture and values, he added.
He said, “Even after 72 years of Independence, we were following the same education system. I can see a ray of hope in the institutions being run by Vidya Bharti, which are still following our rich culture and traditions”. Thakur said, “We should work together and preserve the rich culture and tradition of our country”. He said the students of Vidya Bharti institutions were excelling in every field and congratulated them for their excellent performance in the recently declared board results.
He said the state government would take all necessary steps to raise the standard of education in government educational institutions and in this direction 10 residential schools would be opened in the state for imparting best education to the students. He said for this, a provision of Rs 25 crore had been made in the current year budget.
Transport and Forest Minister Govind Singh Thakur said the motto of education must be to serve the society so as to make India the “vishwa guru”. He said Vidya Bharti was one of the biggest organisations in India working towards imparting value-based education to students. He announced Rs 5 lakh for the strengthening of the Chet Ram Gyan Bhawan.
