SHIMLA: As many as 650 anganwadi workers, dressed in traditional ‘rejta’ (costume), performed natti on The Ridge here on Monday, giving a flying start to the four-day Shimla Summer Festival. However, the Shimla Festival Committee, headed by the Deputy Commissioner, has come under fire from the Shimla Nagrik Sabha which accused it of giving more space for artistes from outside the state, rather than local artistes.  DC Amit Kashyap said he was trying to make it enjoyable for all. “The artistes from the North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala, will perform a dance during the festival at different locations in the city,” he said, adding that the artistes from Rajasthan and Haryana would perform  “Kachi Ghori”, “Bahurupiye”  and “Been Jogi on The Ridge. President of the Nagrik Sabha Vijendra Mehra said the committee should feature local artistes as the tourists came to enjoy local culture. — TNS
