The famous Dhungri mela to appease Goddess Hidimba started with religious fervour in Manali on Tuesday. On the opening day, local people from adjoining villages in their traditional dresses brought their deities to the temple in processions. Folk artistes performed Kulluvi natti on the occasion.

The mela is the main attraction for locals as well as tourists visiting the town. The Hidimba temple, which is also known as Dhungri temple, is situated in the midst of deodar trees. The temple has a four-tiered pagoda-shaped roof and the doorway is carved with legendary figures and symbols.
