Faculty development programme
The two-day ‘Industry Integrated Faculty Development Programme’ concluded at the State Corporate Resource Centre – Centre of Excellence, Government College, Sanjauli. Experts from the ICICI, Grandstream, Videocon, SkillLabs, Reliance Jio, apprised the participants of new age skills like ‘Data Science’, ‘Digital Design’, ‘Thinking and Industry-Specific’ job knowledge. Importance of self-employment and micro-entrepreneurship was highlighted. Teachers from 13 colleges of the state participated in the event. Resource persons from SEBI and NSE highlighted the need of financial education and literacy in the state. Special secretary, Education, Hem Raj Bairwa was the chief guest.
Workshop on startup schemes
A one-day workshop on Chief Minister’s Startup Schemes was organised by the Department of Industries at Loreto Convent Tara Hall, in which 365 students participated. The successful startups of Himachal shared their experiences with the students. Officials of the Industries Department also gave a presentation on the schemes. During the workshop, an idea contest was held, in which 115 students participated. Prachi Negi, Anuksha Kainthala and Hasika Aggarwal won the top three prizes.
DAV students shine in U-14 tourney
As many as 1,400 students from 20 blocks of Kangra district participated in various events in the district level sports tournament of primary schools (U-14) held from September 23 to 26 at Jaisinghpur. Khushi of Class V brought laurels to DAV Public School, Alampur, by winning the badminton meet. She has been selected for the state-level tournament. Her father and coach Mathura Das Dhiman encouraged the students to take part in sports. He said a balanced diet, regular practice and hard work were a must. Aryan Thakur of Class IV bagged a bronze medal in the 1,500-m race. He has also been selected for the state-level tournament. Principal Dr Bikram Singh congratulated Khushi, Aryan Thakur along with their parents, teachers and coaches.
Training programmes for teachers
Teachers of Sacred Soul Cambridge School, Nurpur, attended various training programmes during this week. The principal conducted a one-day workshop on ‘Innovative Teaching Pedagogies’. Around 55 teachers attended the workshop and carried out various activities on topics like ‘Classroom Management’ and ‘Creative Thinking’. Principal Tarsem Kumar Sharma said such training sessions enabled teachers to handle the students in a better way.
Students taken to plant nursery
Students of Blue Star Senior Secondary Public School, Hamirpur, visited a plant nursery to know the process of plantation. The programme was conducted under the weekly educational activity to enhance their practical and theoretical knowledge. Students of primary section participated along with the teachers. Principal of the school Dr Suman Lata said the initiative would help in inculcating good habits among students.
