Fan park at Dhalpur for IPL matches
Kullu, April 27
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will set up a fan park at Dhalpur Ground for three IPL matches scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
Sumeet Mallapurkar, Assistant Manager, Cricket Operations, BCCI, said the matches would be shown live on a giant TV screen.
The BCCI had stumbled upon the idea in 2015 to create a virtual stadium for fans. He said fan parks were to be set up in 36 cities across the country during the IPL season, covering four cities every weekend. This weekend, the parks will be set up in Kullu, Siliguri, Surat and Coimbatore to reach out to cricket lovers.
Sumeet said the entry would be free and 7,000 persons could be accommodated in the park in Kullu. He said there would be music and stalls selling food and beverages.
Those visiting the park would be eligible for a lucky prize which would include a smartphone from VIVO. The last season witnessed a massive turnout of over 3 lakh cricket enthusiasts. “This year, even greater turnout is being exoected,” said Sumeet Mallapurkar— OC
