Felicitation event for Justice Surya Kant

A felicitation programme in the honour of Justice Surya Kant, Judge, Supreme Court and former Chief Justice of High Court of Himachal Pradesh was organised today by the HP High Court Staff Welfare Organisation.

Devender Chopra, president, High Court Staff Welfare Organisation, honoured Justice Surya Kant and Acting Chief Justice Dharam Chand Chaudhary with the Himachali caps on this occasion.

In his address, Justice Surya Kant said that his tenure as Chief Justice in High Court of Himachal Pradesh has been the most memorable. He said the role of staff in dispensing justice is vital and called the staff as invisible pillar of the justice delivery system besides the bench and the bar. He thanked everyone for their affection and co-operation. This was Justice Surya Kant’s first visit to High Court after being elevated as judge of the Supreme Court.

Speaking on the occasion, Acting Chief Justice Dharam Chand Chaudhary thanked Justice Surya Kant for his guidance and benevolence and said that the High Court of Himachal Pradesh will have its guardian (Justice Surya Kant) for a long time in the apex court.
