The Other Backward Classes Financial Development Corporation (OBCFDC) will impart vocational training to unemployed youth from the OBC community, in collaboration with industrial houses, hospitals and IITs, to shape their future by providing them good job opportunities.

Newly appointed Chairman, OBCFDC, Prof Chander Kumar, a former MP, said this while addressing a press conference after assuming charge today.

He said Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh had assigned him the task to provide job opportunities to the unemployed youth of the OBC community in agriculture, horticulture, dairy farming, fisheries and hospitals.

He said the OBCFDC would prefer to provide refresher courses through extension departments of different universities to the pass-outs of ITIs and polytechnics to push them to trading and manufacturing business with funding from the corporation.

It would be practical, pragmatic and result-oriented contribution of the OBCFDC towards social uprising in Himachal Pradesh, he added.

Regarding CUHP, Kumar said it was his and the CM’s contribution that CUHP was sanctioned for Kangra. Anurag Thakur was not even politically born at that time.

He ridiculed the use of politics to derail CUHP.

He said in Jammu and Kashmir, instead of one Central University, two were functioning because of the unification of ideas of political parties on the developmental front.

He supported the division of Kangra district for the organisation of activities and said for Kangra DDC Chief, it was difficult to have contact with every block, so bifurcation into Kangra, Dehra, Palampur and Nurpur was essential.

Vikas Labroo, Managing Director, OBCFDC, and two directors, Sunita Chaudary from Sirmour and Capt Partap Chand Choudary from Jwalamukhi, were also present at the press conference.
