Forest guard’s death: Police still clueless

The police are still clueless on circumstances leading to the death of Hoshiyar Singh, a forest guard, whose body was found hanging in forest area of Karsog sub division on June 9. While family members of the deceased have alleged murder, the police, on recovery of suicide note, are investigating all angles.

Speaking to mediapersons here today DIG Asif Jalal said the police were probing both the aspects of the case. Preliminary inquiry has suggested that Hoshiyar Singh died of poisoning. The forensic report to determine the actual cause of death is still awaited, he said.

He said that mobile data was being analysed and call detail records (CDR) were being analysed.

The DIG said he was personally monitoring the investigation being conducted by SIT headed by ASP Kulbhushan Verma.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Research and Training HS Dogra said a detailed report on illegal felling of trees would be ready within two days.

Meanwhile,members of the deceased’s family along with residents held a protest at Chhatri in Seraj Valley to demand CBI inquiry in the case.
