SOLAN: Jagat Singh Negi, a former MLA of Shillai constituency of Sirmaur district, died at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi this evening.

Jagat Singh Negi, a former MLA of Shillai constituency of Sirmaur district, died at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi this evening.

Born on November 15, 1947, Negi hailed from Kandyari village. He was elected an MLA in 1990. He was a known social activist and was also associated with the labour agitation at Khodri Majri in 1973. He also remained the national vice-president of Lok Dal during the emergency in 1975.

Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dr Rajiv Bindal and other senior political leaders of the district expressed their condolences at the demise of the veteran leader.
