Fresh snow at Rohtang Pass

Fresh snow at the 13,050-ft Rohtang Pass on Tuesday brought cheer on the faces of Kullu and Manali hoteliers. It was opened for tourists on Monday.

With fresh snow at Rohtang and mild rain in Manali town and its vicinity, Kullu district has come under the grip of cold wave. Freeing temperature has forced people to wear jackets even in the day.

In view of public safety, the Manali administration stopped traffic movement towards Lahaul from the Manali side for more than one hour. However, traffic was allowed again for the residents of Lahaul-Spiti.

Manali SDM Raman Garsangi said the movement of tourist vehicles towards the Rohtang Pass would depend upon weather conditions in the coming days as the security of people was their top priority. He said they had stopped the movement of vehicles from the Gulaba barrier to Lahaul for more than one hour in the day. — TNS
