The All-India Senior Citizens’ Forum and the Chamba District Vikas Jan Manch have raised questions over the functioning of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College (PJNGMC). They have sought a high-level probe into the purchase of college equipment, accessories and recruitment process since 2016, when the college was made functional,
PC Oberoi, a member of the senior citizens’ forum, said neither infrastructure nor staff strength at the college was up to the mark. At present, the medical college is being run from the building of Raja Sham Singh hospital, though 125 bigha at Sarol, near here, has already been transferred in the name of the college.
Earlier, Chamba District Vikas Jan Manch district convener Swami Bhuvaneshwar Sharma had also urged the state government to initiate a probe into the functioning of the medical college. Principal and Dean, PJNGMC, Prof Parshotam Kumar Puri said when he took over the charge of the college, he was not handed over the complete records pertaining to the purchase of college equipment, accessories and recruitment. “I have apprised the state government of the entire state of affairs of the college,” he said. — OC
