The Industry Department is going to conduct a survey in Lahaul-Spiti to find ways to revamp the ailing handloom and handicraft sector in the district.

Residents of the district have been into the handloom and handicraft business for years, but after the advent of machine-made products, the market demand for these products has declined drastically. This is forcing the weavers to adopt alternate occupation to sustain their economy.
