Shimla, October 6
Justice Lingappa Narayana Swamy was sworn in as the 25th Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court here today.
He was administered the oath of office by Governor Bandaru Dattatreya at an impressive ceremony held at Raj Bhawan.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur was also present on the occasion. The ceremony took place at the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhawan, where Chief Secretary Dr Srikant Baldi conducted the proceedings of oath ceremony and read out the Warrant of Appointment issued by the President.
Judges of the High Court and Madras High Court, senior officers of the state government and prominent persons were present. He was presented a ‘Guard of Honour’ on the High Court premises.
Justice Lingappa Narayana Swamy was born on July 1, 1959. He was enrolled as an advocate on October 15, 1987.
He practised for 19 years in the High Court of Karnataka, Karnataka Administrative Tribunal and Central Administrative Tribunal, Bangalore in civil, criminal, constitutional, service and labour matters.
Justice Lingappa Narayana Swamy specialised in constitutional matters. He worked as High Court Government Pleader from 1995 to 1999. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Karnataka High Court on July 4, 2007 and appointed as a permanent Judge on April 17, 2009.
