Himachal Pradesh University Vice-Chancellor Prof Sikander Kumar released the video of famous song “Mala Re” by Dr Madan Jhalta, ex-student. Over 20 lakh people have listened to the song on YouTube so far. Appreciating the efforts of the rising star, he said the song was being liked by those living abroad too.
Protest over killing of RSS worker
The ABVP unit of Government College, Sanjauli (Shimla), condemned the brutal killing of an RSS worker, his pregnant wife and eight-year-old son in West Bengal. Activists demanded dismissal of the state government for its failure to rein in the elements responsible for political murders. Addressing a protest rally, secretary of college unit of ABVP Dhiraj Kalta said political murders were continuing unabated in West Bengal and accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of sheltering the culprits. He also demanded an impartial inquiry into the gruesome murder.
Him Academy celebrates Annual day
Him Academy Public School, Hamirpur, celebrated its third annual day on Wednesday. Hitesh Lakhanpal, DSP (HQ), presided over the function. As many as 300 students were awarded prizes. A cultural programme was also presented. The DSP said there was no shortcut to success and focused approach with hard work could only bring success in life. He urged the students to say no to drugs.
Importance of cleanliness highlighted
Students and staff of DAV School, Mandi, pledged to keep their surroundings clean. Mandi Deputy Commissioner Rugved Thakur highlighted the importance of cleanliness and inspired the students to inculcate the habit of worshiping beauty in the form of cleanliness. He said in the journey towards prosperous India, the first step began with cleanliness. “Along with our body and mind, we also need to take the responsibility of keeping our surroundings clean,” he added.
Athletics meet at DAV School
Students of DAV Public School, Bharoli, Kangra, performed well in the DAV state-level athletics meet 2019-20 organised at DAV, Hamirpur. More than 300 athletes participated and six students were selected for the nationals. Principal Surjeet Kumar Rana said Komal won a gold medal in high jump, while Sailiza and Bhanu bagged bronze medals in shot put. Shivani clinched a bronze medal in long jump and Nishant won a bBronze medal in the 1,500-m race. The girls chess team stood first. Sejal was declared the best player of the tournament. Sejal, Chakshu, Anshika, Komal and Sushant have been selected for the nationals.
