Solan SDM Rohit Rathore, DSP, Parwanoo, Yogesh Rolta, Executive Officer, Subathu Cantonment, Divanshu Chawdhary and the tehsildar supervised the operations. A team comprising 30 labourers and 40 policemen were deployed with the requisite paraphernalia to demolish the structures.

Some people pulled down illegal structures on their own. Rathore said the drive would continue till all encroachments were razed and three and a half structures were demolished on the first day.

The drive was undertaken without any break in order to ensure that there was no unsavoury incident. The area was cordoned off as an additional precaution.

Chawdhary said notices had been issued to about 25 to 30 persons and those who had obtained a stay from the court had been left out.

Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr Rajiv Saizal also paid a visit to the town and met the residents.
