The hoteliers of Kullu district are in trouble for raising illegal constructions.
The district administration submitted a report to the High Court on Wednesday. The court had directed the district administration to seal the illegal properties.
SDM Amit Gularia said 48 illegal hotels or restaurants at Kasol and other places would be sealed.
According to official sources, there are over 300 hotels and restaurants at Kasol, Manikaran and Kullu and many have been constructed illegally. A majority of hotel owners are lacking documents, while a few are constructed on the government land.
Talking to The Tribune, the SDM said 90 per cent hotels and restaurants had been inspected. During the inspection, it was found that most of the hotel owners were lacking proper documents. The number of illegal structures could be high. Earlier, on the direction of High Court, the district administration had sealed 40 hotels at Kasol, while similar action was taken against a few hotels in Manali.
A few illegal structures were demolished by the district administration in Kullu and now the authorities were collecting details about those who encroached government land in the district.
