The slowdown in the economy is the biggest challenge before the Modi government and no one is happy with the prevailing situation. This was stated by Tavleen Singh, a columnist, while interacting with The Tribune during the Khushwant Singh Literary Fest.
She said: “No country is built with foreign investment and Indian businessmen are unable to invest. The scenario is gloomy. The economic situation is adverse and the purchasing power of the common man has been reduced drastically so much so that a person cannot even purchase biscuits.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi should wake up and pay adequate attention to the country’s economy. Instead of addressing the economic concerns, Amit Shah was distracting the people by professing about Article 370, which had little relevance elsewhere. Tavleen said a strong Opposition was required for a democracy and hoped Rahul Gandhi, former AICC president, would re-built his party. It was lamentable that the Congress was running like a private limited company of the Gandhis and without naming anyone said “the joke” had run away when they lost the elections.
“In the current scenario, there is no one to tell the government that it is wrong,” she said.
The noted journalist added that the abrogation of Article 370 in Kashmir was a right step implemented at the wrong time. The people of J&K were as it is not happy and it further added to their somberness as they were not taken into confidence while making this amendment.
