Minister for Food and Civil Supplies and BJP candidate from Kangra parliamentary constituency Kishan Kapoor today accused former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh of playing caste politics. Lashing out at Virbhadra Singh, Kapoor alleged that the former CM had a misconception about his popularity in the state. He was defeated in the Assembly election of 1990 even when he was a CM. In 2014 parliamentary polls his wife was defeated by BJP candidate Ram Swaroop, Kapoor alleged.
Kapoor was reacting to the recent statement of Virbhadra Singh. Former Chief Minister had alleged that the Congress had given representation to the OBC community by given party ticket to Pawan Kajal. He had also alleged that the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur wanted to remove Kishan Kapoor from his Cabinet and so had given him the party ticket.
Kishan Kapoor, while addressing a press conference, said that Virbhadra Singh has false notion about himself and has forgotten that he had lost elections. “I want to remind Virbhadra Singh that in 1990 he had lost the Assembly elections despite that he was Chief Minister. In 2014 his wife lost election to Ram Swaroop Sharma from Mandi parliamentary constituency”, said Kapoor.
Targeting Virbhadra Singh for playing caste card in Kangra rally, Kapoor said that the Congress has forgotten its own party leaders who worked for OBC community. “People have seen how they (Congress) have rewarded the leaders who worked for OBC community. Choudhary Hariram and Haridyal ji were neglected by the Congress” he added.
Replying to a jibe taken by Singh that Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur doesn’t want to keep Kishan Kapoor in his Cabinet and therefore fielded him as party candidate for parliamentary polls, Kapoor said that Virbhadra Singh is even disliked by the Congress high command.
