Pictures of PVC awardees unveiled in Una

Photographs of seven soldiers, awarded the Param Vir Chakra for their acts of bravery in the face of the enemy, were unveiled at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bangana in Una district, on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Divas.
The photographs, along with a brief on their acts of bravery are meant to inspire young students studying on the campus, said Deputy Commissioner Vikas Labroo, who was at the school to preside over a meeting of the school management committee today.
The DC said since the school was functioning from a rented building and a permanent building was being constructed near Piplu village, where the students would get better facilities for academics, sports and other curricular activities. Earlier, school principal SD Lakhanpal informed the gathering on various achievements of the school in the past one year.
BJP honours martyrs’ kin
Una MLA and state BJP president Satpal Singh Satti today presided over an Assembly segment-level Kargil Vijay Diwas programme at the Dr BR Ambedkar Bhawan in Behdala village. On the occasion, ex-servicemen and family members of martyrs from the segment were present and some kin of the bravehearts were honoured.
Satti paid tributes to those soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the face of the enemy. He said the country was progressing because of the sacrifices made by these brave soldiers.
He lauded the role of soldiers from Himachal Pradesh in the freedom struggle and in safeguarding the territories after Independence.
Similar programmes were organised at Sapouri in the Chintpurni segment and at the Amboa panchayat in Gagret segment.
