A leopard attacked a 67-year-old man in Manali village on Sunday. According to information, the big cat entered the residential area on Sunday morning and attacked Tape Ram, who suffered a head injury. The victim was rushed to hospital, where his condition is stated to be stable.
The villagers threw stones at the animal and managed to save the man.
They then informed the Forest Department. It is learnt that last night, the leopard killed four goats and two dogs this morning.
The villagers said they had spotted two leopards in the area, adding that one had been caught by forest officials. Neeraj Chadda, Divisional Forest Officer, Kullu, said the leopard was given medical aid. It would be sent to the Gopalpur zoo near Palampur.
He said: “The department has given Rs 5,000 as relief to the victim. We have laid a trap to catch the leopard.”
