The 477th birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap was celebrated in Nurpur, Jawali and Fatehpur by local units of Rajput Sabhas.
In Nurpur, celebrations were organised at Bindravan. Thakur Lal Singh, Forest and Environment Minister, Jammu and Kashmir, presided over the celebrations. A colourful shobha yatra was taken out from Kandwal to Bindravan.
Lal Singh lauded the efforts of the Rajput Sabha and its chairman Manoj Pathania.He also released a souvenir published by the Rajput Sabha, Nurpur.
In Jawali, former Nurpur MLA Rakesh Pathania attended the Maharana Pratap jayanti whereas in Fatepur a social activist, Rajesh Thakur, presided over the celebrations.
KANGRA: Rajput Community reiterated its demanded to scrap the present reservation policy on caste basis and demanded reservation on economic basis for all castes. The demand was raised by Thakur Kunwar Narayan Singh, president of Rajput Kalayan Saba, Jammu, while speaking at Maharana Pratap Jayanti organised by Rajput Saba here on Sunday. Thakur Kunwar Narayan Singh was the chief guest.
Kewal Singh Pathania, vice chairman, state Forest Corporation, who was guest of honour, said Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh had assured that Rs 48 lakh would be given for installing a statue of Maharana Partap. The statue will be installed at Talwara. He said Rajput bhawans would be constructed at the subdivisional headquarters in this district.
Other speakers threw light on the life of Maharana Pratap and stressed on taking a cue from his life for the service of the nation and the society.
