Maj Gen Rana takes over as HPPSC chairman

Governor Acharya Devvrat today administered the oath of office and secrecy to Major General (Retd) DS Rana as chairman of Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC).
Maj Gen Rana hailing from Baijanth in Kangra district assumed office, following the completion of term of the previous Chairman KS Tomar. He has more than 36 years of experience of holding important positions at various ranks in the Army which gives him vast experience in HR, logistics, security and administrative functions of a large government organization.
He has been awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) for rendering distinguished services of exceptional order during command of a Mountain Division on the North Eastern borders with China by President of India in 2014. He was awarded Sena Medal (SM) for rendering distinguished services while command of a Brigade in Assam in counter terrorist operations in 2011. He was honoured with the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) while command of a Battalion in Kashmir Valley in counter terrorist operations in 2004.
Maj Gen Rana (retd) received the General Officer General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command Commendation Card. He was head of Indian Army Team’ for the Indo-US Joint Exercise “Yudh Abhyas 2015” in Washington State, USA in 2015.
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh among other ministers were present.
