Mandi girl Abhilasha has done the town proud by becoming a Lieutenant. She is the fourth from the family to join the Army.
“My great grandfather, grandfather, father, brother and uncles have either served or are in the Army. It feels great to get a chance to serve the country.”
Her father Vipan Kumar and mother Naresha Devi are proud parents as their daughter has joined the Army. “My father was injured in the Kargil War. I was a kid at that time. But when I grew up, I decided to join the Army. I have a medical background which will help me heal someone’s injuries,” she added. Abhilasha said not only her family members, but husbands of her father’s sisters were also in the Army.
She resides at Pingla village of Sarkaghat sub-division, Mandi district. She completed her schooling at Central School Mandi and BSc (nursing) from the Akal College of Nursing of Badu Sahib, Nahan. Abhilasha has also qualified the Army Military Nursing Service (MNS) recruitment examination and will now serve as the second lieutenant.
