Mandi teacher wins silver in 100-m race

Hemant Lata Nair, a teacher from Mandi district, won silver medal in 100-m race in the National Masters Athletics Championship that was held in Chandigarh. Participants from 21 states took part in it. She took part in the 50-55 years age group.

Nair (53) has to her kitty six gold and a silver in state-level master athletics championship and one silver and one bronze in national-level master athletics sport till date.

Talking to The Tribune she said: “It is a matter of pride that I won silver medal for the state. It is quite encouraging not only for me but also for the youth.” Currently, she is posted as a lecturer of Sociology at Government Senior Secondary School in Mandi district.
