The district authorities have made an arrangement of vehicles to escort the visiting leader. Security arrangements at the airport have also been reviewed.

As per the schedule, the Mauritian Prime Minister will arrive at the airport in the morning and return by an evening flight to Delhi.

Kangra SP Vimukt Ranjan confirmed the news of the Mauritian PM visiting the district for a day. “We have been told that the PM will first visit Mahakal temple in Baijnath and then go to the Baglamukhi temple. Both temples are in Kangra. He will return the same day by an evening flight,” he said.

Located at a distance of around 42 km from Dharamsala, the Baglamukhi temple is believed to be from the Mahabharata era and have mystical powers, which is why it’s famous among politicians, celebrities and players. During elections, politicians come to seek divine help.

Sources in the temple told The Tribune that many politicians visited the temple to perform ‘tantric puja’ for immediate relief.

The puja is believed to provide immediate relief to problems and victory over enemies.

Famous politicians who visited the temple in the past include former President Pranab Mukherjee, former Congress leader Maninderjit Singh Bitta, former Samajwadi Party leaders Amar Singh and Jaya Prada and Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh.

Baijanth is known for a Shiva temple, Mahakal. It is famous for not celebrating Dasehra as Ravana is considered to be a disciple of Lord Shiva. There is no goldsmith shop in Baijnath.
