Shimla, July 12
Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rajeev Bindal formally today lauded the role of NABARD in developing infrastructure like roads, bridges, irrigation and drinking water supply schemes in rural areas of Himachal.
Bindal appreciated the role of NABARD in Digitisation of SHGs and formation of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in the state.
Nilay D Kapoor, Chief General Manager, HP Regional Office, NABARD highlighted the vision, mission, objectives & interventions of NABARD in the state in terms of strengthening rural infrastructure. He emphasized on the promotion of more Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZNBF) in the state for the benefit of small and marginal farmers.
He informed that 76 FPOs has already been formed in the state with a financial support of Rs 5.25 crore from NABARD. He also mentioned importance of supplementing farmers income by supporting more investment credit in allied activities and off farm activities by banks to double farmer’s income by year 2022.
Kapoor informed that to uplift the tribals of the state NABARD has sanctioned seven tribal development projects in Lahaul Spiti, Kinnaur, Chamba, Bilaspur and Una districts, benefitting 2,325 families of 77 villages of these districts through grant support of Rs 11.70 crore.
To address the issue of climate change, NABARD in the capacity of National Implementing Entity of National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change (NAFCC) is implementing a project in Sirmaur district. — TNS
