HP starts vocational degree courses

Shimla: The HP Kaushal Vikas Nigam (HPKVN), in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education, on Tuesday started admitting students for the three-year bachelor of vocational degree course in hospitality and tourism and retail management. The government is offering vocational degree courses  in 12 degree colleges in 10 districts. “Admission has been opened from June 18 for the students who have passed Class XII exams,” said Rohan Chand Thakur, managing director,  HPKVN. Himachal was the first state to start these courses in 2017-18 under the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), he added.  These courses were approved by the UGC and ensure the on-campus placement for degree holders, he added. tns
